11th Seerat Club Session – Hijrat to Medinah
📅 Held on 4th October 2025 at Shafqat Masjid
The 11th session of the Seerat Club focused on the historic and deeply meaningful event of Hijrat to Medina. The session began with Maulana Owais engaging the children in a short interactive quiz about the Islamic calendar. Through this, they discovered that the Islamic calendar begins with the event of Hijrah — a turning point in Islamic history.
Children revisited the challenges faced by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in Makkah during the early years of preaching Islam. As the hardships increased, the Quraysh plotted to kill him, but Allah ﷻ informed the Prophet ﷺ of their plan and commanded him to migrate to Medina. The Prophet ﷺ carefully planned his journey — choosing a trustworthy companion, a less-travelled route, and a reliable guide, highlighting his wisdom and tawakkul (trust in Allah).
These lessons were then connected to the children’s daily lives — such as facing exam stress, preparing for a big cricket match, or making small sacrifices like pausing playtime for Maghrib prayer — showing how values from Seerah apply to challenges children face on a daily basis. The session concluded beautifully with the recitation of the nasheed “Tala‘al Badru ‘Alayna”, helping children imagine the joy with which the people of Medina welcomed the Prophet ﷺ.
In the 2nd half of the session, the focus shifted to connecting Hijrah’s lessons to our homeland — Pakistan. Children reflected that just as Medina was a blessing for the early Muslims, Pakistan is also a ni’mah (blessing) and amānah (trust) for us.
Discussions then turned toward one of Pakistan’s major challenges today — climate change. Through a heartfelt story titled Driver Sahib aur Dariya Sutlej children explored how climate change and flooding is affecting people living around us. This was followed by a short documentary, The Frozen Giants of Karakoram, presented in collaboration with TDF MagnifiScience, to help children understand how melting glaciers in northern Pakistan are contributing to rising river levels and floods downstream. To inspire action, the session highlighted local climate heroes who are actively working to protect the environment in their communities. Children were encouraged to take small, practical steps — such as reducing plastic use — to help the planet. The event concluded with a Tote Bag Painting Activity titled Design for a Greener Pakistan, led by artist Muneeb Ghouri which was throughly enjoyed.
